To me, summer in the south looks like warm, sunny days, sweet iced tea (especially with a splash of your favorite adult beverage), front porches, and gingham! There's no better place in Austin to feel like you've been transported to a classic southern oasis than the newly renovated and reopened Mattie's at Green Pastures. Mattie's was the perfect setting to wear my new gingham dress from eShakti! (Just be careful, because the staff at Mattie's also wears navy gingham, so you might just find yourself being asked where the restrooms are, haha!)

Gingham is one trend that we have been seeing over and over again this season, and for good reason! It is such a classic print that is so versatile and perfect for spring and summer. When I saw this navy gingham dress from eShakti, I knew it would be such a great addition to my summer wardrobe! This is my second time working with eShakti, and if you aren't familiar with them, eShakti is the only online women's fashion apparel company that offers customizable clothing and sizes ranging from 0-36W. With my first experience with eShakti, I chose the customized fit route and submitted my exact measurements so that the piece I had chosen would be tailored to fit my body seamlessly. This time, I chose a different route and decided to really customize the style of my dress. This dress was originally offered as a pleated maxi, but because of the hot Texas summers and my petite frame, I thought shortening the dress length to above the knee would be best. I also chose to change the sleeves from a simple spaghetti strap to tie-up straps. I think the little bows add a touch of flair and femininity to the dress. Lastly, I chose to eliminate the pockets on this dress simply because I rarely carry things in my pockets. Because I wasn't going the customized fit route, I was curious as to whether or not the standard sizes would fit my petite frame well. I took my measurements to gauge what would be the best size for me according to their size charts, and it turns out that even though I was in-between sizes, the middle size still fit me very well!
This dress just screams southern summers to me, and I can't wait to find new places and occassions to wear it to! I especially can't wait to come back to Mattie's to try their delicious weekend brunch with my girlfriends and peruse the grounds! How perfect is that patio?!
I hope y'all enjoyed this post, and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about customizing with eShakti!
