Something I have wanted to do ever since Ryan and I got married and were living under the same roof is have a special photo shoot in our first home together. I first saw the idea on Pinterest (surprise, surprise) of a couple who had darling photos taken inside and outside of their first home together before they moved in. I originally wanted to do this at our previous house, but at the time, we were finalizing wedding plans, getting married, traveling and navigating how to combine two lives (and everything that goes with it) into one. Before we knew it, a year went by and we still hadn't had a chance to get the photos done. Fast forward a few more years, and we were already outgrowing our first house.
Even though it wasn't in our plans to move, it was clearly a part of God's plan for us to start a new chapter in our lives and move into our new home this year. We had some unexpected life twists and turns happen as we were closing on this house and getting ready to move, but once we got settled, the opportunity finally came for us to have "Our first home" photo shoot with Brooke of Brooke Taelor Photography. Technically, it works out for the best because even though it is our second residence, this is OUR first home together since we signed both of our names on the papers this time (;

As I've gotten older, I've come to understand the imortance of planning, setting goals, and dreaming. Each new year gives us the perfect opportunity to set aside time to do those things. If you're anything like me, when you hear talk about new year's resolutions you probably hear Miranda Priestly's voice in the back of your head saying, "Resolutions? For the new year? Groundbreaking."
In all seriousness, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't believe in resolutions. Resolutions are simply a decision to do or not to do something, but setting goals and achieving those goals is so much more satisfying. I must admit that there were several items on my list of goals last year that I didn't complete, and if I'm being honest, it was largely due to lack of motivation, laziness, and other excuses. While my goals last year were certainly achievable, the items were fairly broad, and while I hope to continuously work on and improve those goals, I have come up with 17 specific, achievable goals for the new year and the products I'd use to help me: |
